My name is Chen-Hua Huang (Lora), and I am from Taipei, Taiwan. I received my bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from Taiwan Normal University (台湾师范大学) in 2005. I also have a minor in Special Education. Taiwan Normal University is one of the four oldest universities in Taiwan. It has been a leading institution dedicated to teacher education since 1922. From the training that I received in college, I have realized that an ideal educator should not only transmit knowledge but also broaden students’ horizons.
After graduating from university, I worked at Xiehe Youde High School as a school counselor. Besides regular counseling, I was also assigned to tutor students in academic subjects. My most memorable trip to China was in 2008. I was a vice-event coordinator for the Youth Development Foundation in Taipei, responsible for planning public activities related to the social development of young adults. My job also involved promoting youth exchange between mainland China and Taiwan. Therefore, I had the opportunity to lead a group of Taiwanese college students to do volunteer service in the Beijing National Stadium during the 2008 Summer Olympics. Later, in 2009, I made my first foray into the field of children’s ESL by joining Vicky’s team of teachers in Taiwan. In order to fulfill one of my early dreams, I went to LA in 2013 and obtained a Pre-Med certificate.
Now, returning to Vicky’s team, I will use what I have experienced over the past few years to assist these young English learners discover their gifts and excel in their studies.
